Mommy/Daddy and Me Cooking Classes at Alice & Louise’s Cooking School
Last week I had the pleasure of attending a Mommy/Daddy and Me Cooking Class at Alice & Louise’s with my children, nearly 3 and 5 1/2. Owners Nichol Chancler and Shelly Modes are first and foremost moms. They know how to keep little ones entertained and engaged through teaching them fun facts about healthy eating, asking questions, and allowing the students to use their senses with the ingredients.
During our class, we made healthy granola bars and no-bake sunflower butter snack balls with hemp and coconut oil. My kids ate everything!
The classes run very smoothly. I loved how the ingredients were divided up so all the little ones had lots ot turns. When it was someone’s turn to mix, everyone helped out by counting or chanting. We even got a tour of the kitchen while the granola bars baked. My kids enjoyed stepping in the giant refrigerator and were amazed by all the equipment.
Every week the theme of the class changes and special recipes can be requested to accommodate any allergies. Find out more about these classes by visiting the Alice and Louise’s Cooking School website or reading my family feature article in the online edition of Northern Virginia Magazine.
I just purchased a pack of 4 classes for my son’s birthday, and we can’t wait to go back!
